Our main aim is to prepare a chiral luminogen that would possess a chiral group incorporated with 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) to give chiral diaminodicyanoquinodimethane (DADQ) molecules. These molecules are easy to synthesize with excellent product yield and therefore will be cost effective as well. The whole unit of chiral luminogen is expected to show circularly polarized luminescence which would show photophysical changes in presence of any chiral moiety due to interactions between luminogen and the analyte. Therefore, they possess potential application in chiral recognition, metal ion sensing and circularly polarized LEDs; they could be developed into devices using polymer embedded chiral sensing units.
